Are you feeling a little yellow? Embrace the yellow. Be the yellow. For fun, turn yourself into a character that would fit right in with Homer, Marge, and Bart

In this simple Flash-based character-maker program, Simpsomaker by Q 4 Nobody, you can incorporate characteristics from your face, by choosing different eye, ears, nose, and hair. You can design yourself a Simpsons avatar or make one for your friends and family. Then, you can turn your animated Simpson character into a comic character.

Great Things About It

This Simpsons character-making program is free. Also, you can customize the caption for the character that you make and turn this into a single-frame or single panel comic.

You can change the background scenes, too. There are six scenes. You can choose from a classroom, jail, or ice rink, for example.

Also, there is a print button right on the screen making printing a snap for those who go crazy trying to print something from their screen.

Features That Need Improvement

The program is pretty rudimentary. Since the characteristics that you can control are basic facial features and styles, it leaves very little in the way of adding facial nuances that arguably can make or break the character from looking like you. For example, there is no option to add dimples, a chin cleft, or eyebrows.

Some game reviewers claim that there can be an error in the script when it comes to printing out more than the first page.

Also, there are other character makers out there that seem more dynamic with additional bells and whistles. For example, the "Family Guy Yourself" program. It was launched in January 2018 coinciding with Fox's celebration of the 300th episode of "The Family Guy." It has a lot of the same features as the Simpsomaker but does not require Flash, and the Family Guy user experience seems a little more luxe.

About the Developer

Q 4 Nobody is the design shop led by Quentin Devine, who is an artist, illustrator, animator, and designer living in Surrey, England. In addition to this character maker, he has created other Flash-based games. His work extends to other styles of art in the form of carving, painting, mosaics, infographics, and logos design.

About the Simpsons

"The Simpsons" is the longest-running American sitcom and the longest-running animated program. The story is a satirical take on a working-class American family: parents Marge and Homer and their children Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.

The show parodies American life as it occurs in the fictional town of Springfield. The show was created by Matt Groening and airs on Fox. The show got its humble beginnings as animated short skits that were part of the Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. "The Simpsons Movie," a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide in 2007 and grossed over $527 million.

Around the time of the release of the movie, the website for that movie added an unrelated character-maker that allowed you to create your own Simpsons character. This program is no longer available since the movie website has been removed.
