I've only recently stumbled upon his latest video, Where the Hell Is Matt? (2008), which I knew nothing about. I clicked to view the short clip and found myself exhilarated and overwhelmed in short order.
If you don't know about Matt or his film, I suggest you watch now (via Vimeo) for full effect because there are spoilers coming up in this article.
Several years ago, Matt quit his job and fell into life as a traveler through Asia. Along the way, unpremeditated, he began doing a simple, silly dance at the various locations chronicled in his home movies. Soon, the cinematic footwork became an obsession, which he edited into fascinating and comical video presentations.
The 2008 episode is not the first in the series, but it is unique in that it incorporates many of the fans of his earlier projects. Matt returned to his globetrotting ways to visit strangers far and wide who had extended unsolicited invitations to the dance with him. This four-minute motion picture was "14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands."
See all of Matt's dance videos at his official site, including dancing outtakes which would be special in any film. I kept asking myself, "These are outtakes?" I couldn't believe it. What great stuff.
And, in case you're wondering, "Where the hell is Matt?" In my estimation, he's on top of the world.
