'5 Men in a Limo'
"Imagine ... five of the top voiceover artists in our country, all in one car!..." So says the king of the modern movie trailer announcers, Don LaFontaine, known in the profession as "God" for his remarkable and unmistakable vocal qualities, plus the 4000+ motion picture commercials and countless TV spots under his belt since the '60s. Crisscrossing Los Angeles in his car, LaFontaine assembles a team of peers, John Leader, Al Chalk, Mark Elliot, and Nick Tate, for a mission and some hyperbole.
Review:
The short comedy film, presented at iFILM, was produced for a 1997 industry awards show. The five actors' voices and occupational mannerisms are so imprinted in our minds that to see them spoof themselves in a perfectly executed, straight-faced goof is wonderfully surreal and solidly hilarious. Elliot, the overly happy voice of everything Disney, is a sport as the more somber quartet endures his eager spunk. Another pro, Hal Douglas, phones in to be snubbed.Available Formats:
