It wasn't so long ago when Disney, with little competition, managed to launch a full-length cartoon comedy every few years. Now, we're inundated with these things from major and minor studios throughout the release calendars, which makes me very happy, provided the toons are suitably loony. Next up-- well, after Ice Age 2: The Meltdown -- the next up from Disney is The Wild, a computer-animated adventure, which sounds much like a plot rip of DreamWork's Madagascar. Disney UK summarizes the tale:
- "When a young lion is mistakenly taken to the wild from his home in the New York Zoo, his father leads a group of zoo animals including a giraffe, an anaconda, a koala, and a squirrel on a rescue mission that will change their lives forever."
Voices include, according to sources, Kiefer Sutherland, Jim Belushi, Eddie Izzard, Janeane Garofalo, and William Shatner.
