As you've probably noticed, The Mining Co. changed its name. We're now About. com. It's the same handy service, fun and informational. Nothing else, upfront or behind the scenes, has been significantly altered.
At first, I thought the new name was kind of bland (don't tell anyone). But then I allowed it to soak in a bit. The name is succinct, intuitive, and, perhaps, easier to remember. With over 650 GuideSites on a wide pendulum of topics, if you need to find out about Humor or about Volleyball or about Classic Rock or about Fatherhood or about Law or about thousands of related and different interests, you should think About.com, because chances are we've already thought about it for you.
On the plus side of the name change, our network of Guides will no longer have to respond to the actual, serious inquiries we've received concerning mining equipment. We never desired to give anyone the shaft, nor sell them one.
Okay, enough of the sales talk. They can change the name of the company; BUT I'M KEEPING THE DARN MINER'S HAT! It's got a powerful oscillating hi-beam bulb and I like it. And since I recently splurged for the companion bug zapper on a cord to hang around my neck, I guess I'll be "mining" and fashionable for some time to come. (If anyone needs fresh kill for their turtles, email me.)
We anticipate many new guests at About.com and return visits from the curious; so allow me to show you around several of the more popular areas of the ol' Humor section. Follow me closely. I'd hate for you to step in Worst of the Web. We just had the carpets cleaned.

Twice per month, I manage to eke out features reporting on Humor on the Net or inside the
field of Entertainment; but whether I write those or pieces totally off the subject, you
can rest assured I'll pass along my patented feeble meanderings. Believe it or not, people
actually read this stuff! Ha, life is amazing.
I could continue to extol the pleasures around Humor.About.com; however, at the moment, there's a snoring fat cat on my lap making it very difficult to type. His stenography skills are sadly lacking, too.
