A Funny Site of the Day with your Guide Mike Durrett

Erma Bombeck, a struggling housewife and an undisputed master of comedic exaggeration, has been commemorated by the University of Dayton, her alma mater, with this special online exhibit devoted to her life and career. A photographic gallery and a thorough biography are accessible, along with a "gift shop" merchandising her many books, plus the Writers' Workshop bearing her name.

For humor lovers, what sparkles is a batch of early columns from her college days between 1947 and 1949. Written nearly two decades before she sought professional status, "Now I Am Miserable," "In Hock for Hockey," "Poor Mother," "An Open Letter to Effie, My Royal Portable," and four other stories demonstrate the distinctive style and strong grasp of the ridiculous which would eventually make Erma Fiste an American treasure.
