In this usage, an easter egg is an amusing surprise hidden by a project's creator, often inside jokes or bonus entertainment for the critically attentive. More than 5000 tickling trivia tidbits are documented in the major categories of Movies, TV, Computers, Music, Books, and Art.
Some examples:
- In the live-action movie, "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle," "at Wossamotta U. ... we see Boris and Natasha leaving the 'J' Ward of the infirmary. Jay Ward is the creator of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
- On "Mad About You," "Mark asks Paul if he's seen the 'Alien' movies. Paul immediately says 'Only the first one.' What's funny about this is that Paul Reiser starred in the SECOND 'Alien' film, 'Aliens.'"
- "In what I think is a Bud Light commercial, two guys are in a dilemma about whether to use their money to buy toilet paper or beer. There is a man in the back of the line reading a tabloid with the headline 'BIG DUMP PLANNED.'"
