A Funny Site of the Day with Mike Durrett

Channel the sounds of the TV seasons with this non-stop Internet station programmed by Spinner for Radio @ Netscape. The offered music is heavily loaded with sitcom and comedy show theme songs, although melodies from other genres are played. And, where available, full-length versions are featured instead of the standard 30-or-60-seconds cuts.

Here's a sample playlist, actual selections heard within one listening session:

  • "The Match Game" (1968) Theme ("Swinging Safari") -- Bert Kaemfert
  • "Various Cues From Bugs Bunny Cartoons" -- The Carl Stalling Project
  • "Frosty the Snowman" -- Jimmy Durante
  • "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" ("Love Is All Around") -- Sonny Curtis
  • "George of the Jungle" -- S. Allman and S. Worth
  • "My Dog's Better Than Yours" -- Ken-L Ration Dog and Puppy Food
  • "Late Show With David Letterman" -- Paul Shaffer
  • "Who Watches PBS?" / "Buttons and Bows" -- The Cast of "Frasier"
  • "Figure Eight" ("Schoolhouse Rock"} -- Blossom Dearie
  • "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" -- Sonny Sharock and Eddie Hoyt
  • "The Addams Family" -- Vic Mizzy
  • "Pixie and Dixie" -- William Hannah and Joseph Barbara
  • "Inspector Gadget" -- S. Levy and H. Saban
  • "The Red Skelton Show" ("Holiday for Strings") -- David Rose and Sammy Gallop
  • "Mr. Ed" -- Jay Livingston

TV Tunes Radio is totally whacked. Even if specific material is not intentionally comedy-related, the conglomeration of this stuff is interesting, bewildering, campy, and very amusing.

As I always say, "Thumpety, thump, thump, thumpety, thump, thump, look at that Frosty go."
