Born 1896: Jim Jordan, comedian, radio actor, "Fibber McGee and Molly." Died 1988.

Born 1903: June Marlowe, actress, Miss Crabtree in "The Little Rascals" shorts. Died 1984.

Born 1931: Mike Nichols, stand-up comedian, writer, film director, producer, Nichols and May comedy team. His films include: "The Graduate," "Catch-22," "Carnal Knowledge," "Biloxi Blues."

Born 1946: Sally Field, Academy Award-winning actress ("Places in the Heart"), TV's "Gidget," "The Flying Nun," "Smokey and the Bandit," "Murphy's Romance," "Soapdish," "Forrest Gump."
