Born 1933: Aneta Corsaut, actress, Helen Crump on "The Andy Griffith Show," TV's "House Calls." Died 1995.

Born 1952: Roseanne (Barr Arnold Thomas), stand-up comedian, actress, "Roseanne," "She-Devil" (1989), "The Roseanne Show."

Born 1953: Dennis Miller, stand-up comedian, writer, producer, actor, "Saturday Night Live," "Dennis Miller Live," "Joe Dirt."

1956: CBS aired the first TV broadcast of the 1939 MGM classic, "The Wizard of Oz." The event was hosted by Cowardly Lion actor Burt Lahr and Judy Garland's 10-year-old daughter, Liza Minnelli.
