Born 1907: Shirley Booth, primarily a Broadway actress who dabbled in radio ("Duffy's Tavern") and films, winning an Academy Award for her performance in the drama "Come Back Little Sheba." Her comedy film, "The Matchmaker" (1950), from Thornton Wilder's play was the source material for "Hello, Dolly." She's known today for the long-running family sitcom, "Hazel." Died 1992.
