Born 1913: Red Skelton, comedian, actor, writer, "Whistling in the Dark," "I Dood It," "Merton of the Movies," "The Fuller Brush Man," "A Southern Yankee," "The Yellow Cab Man," "Watch the Birdie," "Excuse My Dust" (1951), "The Red Skelton Show" (1951-71), "Public Pigeon No. 1," "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines." Died 1997.

1936: The first Oscar-Mayer Wienermobile was completed at Chicago's General Body Company.
