Born 1937: Polly Holiday, actress, Flo on TV's "Alice," "Home Improvement." Quote: "Kiss my grits!"

Born 1947: Larry David, writer, comedian, actor, "Fridays," "Seinfeld" (co-creator, primary writer), "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

1959: Writer-director Ed Wood's unintentionally funny "Plan 9 From Outer Space" opened in theatres. It is often named as the worst film ever made.
