Born 1893: Harold Lloyd, film comedian, director, writer, producer, generally considered one of the top three silent film comedians with Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. His more than 200 comedies include "Safety Last"  (1923) -- the one where he scaled a high-rise building and finds himself over Los Angeles, dangling from a giant clock -- "Girl Shy" (1924), "Hot Water" (1924), "The Freshman" (1925), "The Kid Brother" (1927). Died 1971.

Born 1907: Alan Reed, actor, best known as the original voice of Fred Flintstone. Died 1977.

Born 1941: Ryan O'Neal, actor, "What's Up Doc?" (1972), "Paper Moon" (1973), "Irreconcilable Differences" (1984).

Born 1949: Jessica Lange, actress, "Tootsie" (1982), "Crimes of the Heart" (1986).

Born 1958: Denis Leary, comedian, actor, "The Ref" (1994), "Ice Age" (2002, voice of Diego).

Born 1959: Clint Howard, character actor, Leon in "The Andy Griffith Show," the voice of Roo in the early Disney "Winnie the Pooh" cartoons, Johnson in the Austin Powers series, scores of other films and TV appearances. Brother of actor-director Ron Howard.

Born 1976: Joey Lawrence, actor, "Gimme a Break" (1983-87), "Blossom" (1991-95).

1977: Woody Allen's "Annie Hall" opened in theatres. Later, it would be named Best Picture of the Year at the Academy Awards.
