Born 1932 (some sources say anywhere dating to 1922): Tiny Tim (Herbert Khaury), falsetto-voiced novelty singer who became a national joke via "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" (marrying Miss Vicki on the program). Died 1996.

Born 1942: Frank Bank, actor, TV's immortal Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford on "Leave It to Beaver."

Born 1946: Ed O'Neill, actor, Al Bundy in "Married ... With Children."

Born 1947: David Letterman, comedian, "Late Night With David Letterman," "Late Show With David Letterman."

Born 1950: David Cassidy, singer, actor, teen idol Keith on "The Partridge Family." Son of Jack Cassidy, stepson of Shirley Jones.

Born 1950: Tom Werner, TV producer, "The Cosby Show," "Diff'rent World," "Roseanne."

1964: The 100th episode of the talking horse sitcom, "Mr. Ed," aired.

1984: Jim Carrey's first TV series, "The Duck Factory," premiered on NBC-TV. Set in a small animation studio, Carrey played straight man to an ensemble featuring Jack Gilford, Teresa Ganzel, Jay Tarses, Julie Payne, Don Messick, and a cartoon duck named Dippy.
