Born 1868: Patty S. Hill, the feelgood lyricist of "Happy Birthday to You," published in 1893 as "Good Morning to All;" amended in 1924 to include the birthday stanza. Died 1948.

Born 1901: Carl Barks, cartoonist, writer, moved from production of Walt Disney's animated cartoons to the print Donald Duck comic books (1942-66). Creator of Scrooge McDuck and Gyro Gearloose. Died 2000.

Born 1907: Mary Treen, comic actress, "The Joey Bishop Show" sitcom (1961-65). Died 1989.

1931: France's Legion of Honor was bestowed upon Charlie Chaplin.

Born 1936: Jerry Lacy, actor, guardian angel Humphrey Bogart in "Play It Again, Sam" (1972).

1957: Mike Todd's "Around World in 80 Days" was named "Best Picture" at the 29th Academy Awards,

1979: Spoofing the Beatles, the Rutles' mockumentary, "All You Need Is Cash," debuted on BBC-TV.
