Born 1906: Ozzie Nelson, actor, writer, producer, TV director, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." Died 1975.

Born 1922: Carl Reiner, actor and comedian, "Your Show of Shows," "2000-Year-Old Man" with Mel Brooks, Alan Brady on "The Dick Van Dyke Show;" writer-creator, "The Dick Van Dyke Show;" film director, "Oh, God!" "The Jerk," "All of Me," "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid." Father of Rob Reiner.

Born 1922: Ray Goulding, comedian, one-half of the legendary Bob and Ray comedy team. Died 1990.

Born 1931: Hal Linden, actor, "Barney Miller" sitcom.

Born 1935: Ted Bessell, actor, TV director, boyfriend Donald Hollinger on "That Girl," "Me and the Chimp." Died 1996.

Born 1936: Vaughn Meader, comedian. His impersonation of President John F. Kennedy became a national sensation via the comedy album "The First Family" during the early 1960s.

Born 1937: Jerry Reed, singer, actor, "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977).

1943: Animator Tex Avery's Droopy made his first appearance in "Dumb-Hounded," an MGM cartoon.

Born 1946: Ranger Doug, singing cowboy of Riders in the Sky musical trio.

1984: "My Breakfast With Blassie," a filmed conversation with Andy Kaufman and wrestler Freddie Blassie, premiered.
