Born 1894: Jackie "Moms" Mabley, billed as "The Funniest Woman in the World," vaudeville performer on the "Chitlin Circuit," stand-up comedian. As an actress, she starred as "Amazing Grace" (1974). Died 1975.

Born 1900: Roy Roberts, actor, "The Gale Storm Show" (1956-60), "Petticoat Junction" (1963-67), "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1964-67), "The Lucy Show" (1965-68), "Bewitched" (1967-71). Died 1975.

Born 1923: Pamela Britton, actress, "Anchors Aweigh" (1945), TV's "Blondie" (1957), "My Favorite Martian" (1963-66). Died 1974.

1928: "Amos 'n' Andy" premiered on the NBC radio network.
