1933: Animator Chuck Jones hired by producer Leon Schlesinger at Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes studio.

Born 1935: Judd Hirsch, actor, "Taxi," "Dear John," "George & Leo." He won Emmys for Alex on Taxi and a Tony for "I'm Not Rappaport" on Broadway.

1956: The musical-comedy "My Fair Lady" premiered on Broadway.

Born 1957: Park Overall, actress, Laverne in "Empty Nest," Alice (voice) in "The Critic," Lori-Ann in "Reba."

1977: "Three's Company," based on the British sitcom "Man About the House," premiered on ABC-TV. John Ritter, Suzanne Somers, Joyce DeWitt, and Norman Fell starred.

1982: Hosers Bob and Doug McKenzie's "The Great White North" album certified Gold. The "SCTV" regulars had a good day, eh.
