Born 1902: Louise Beavers, actress, "She Done Him Wrong" (1933), "Made for Each Other" (1939), "Holiday Inn" (1942), "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" (1948), "Beulah" (1952-53), "The Facts of Life" (1960). Died 1962.

Born 1918: Alan Hale Jr., actor, "Gilligan's Island" (1964-67, The Skipper), "The Good Guys" (1969). Died 1990.

Born 1936: Sue Ane Langdon, actress, "Bachelor Father" (1959-61), "Jackie Gleason and His American Scene Magazine" (1962-63), "The Rounders" (1965), "A Fine Madness" (1966), "A Guide for the Married Man" (1967), "The Cheyenne Social Club" (1970).

Born 1940: Susan Clark, actress, "Skin Game" (1971), "The Apple Dumpling Gang" (1975), "Porky's" (1981), "Webster" (1983-87).

Born 1943: Lynn Redgrave, actress, "Tom Jones" (1963), "Georgy Girl" (1966), "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex" (1972), "The Happy Hooker" (1975), "House Calls" (1979-81).

Born 1958: Micky Dolenz (a k a Mickey Braddock of "Circus Boy"), actor, "The Monkees" (1966-68), "Head" (1968). While not abandoning acting after Monkeemania, he became a television director in England and the U.S. (1977-78: "Fernwood 2Night," 1993-2000: "Boy Meets World.")

1959: The Marx Bros., Groucho, Chico, and Harpo, made their final TV appearance together.

1960: Alfred Hitchcock's horrifying black comedy, "Psycho," opened in theatres. Although the Paramount studio brass and the great director had had their doubts, the film became a critical and popular sensation.
