Born 1874: Henry Travers, actor, "Ball of Fire" (1941), "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946, Clarence). Died 1965.

Born 1908: Rex Harrison, Tony and Oscar-winning actor, "Blithe Spirit" (1945), "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" (1947), "Unfaithfully Yours" (1948), "My Fair Lady" (1964), "Doctor Dolittle" (1967). Died 1990.

Born 1921: Milt Kamen, comedian, actor, "Caesar's Hour" (1956-57). He's credited with discovering Woody Allen and arranged his first writing job with Sid Caesar. Died 1977.

Born 1934: Nicholas Smith, actor, "Are You Being Served?" (1972-85, Cuthbert Rumbold).

Born 1935: Paul Sand, actor, "Viva Max!" (1969), "The Hot Rock" (1972), "Friends and Lovers" (1974-75), "Gimme a Break!" (1986-87).

Born 1947: Eddie Hodges, actor, "A Hole in the Head" (1959), "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" (1960), "Summer Magic" (1963). He was the original Winthrop in Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man" on Broadway (1957).

Born 1954: Marsha Warfield, stand-up comedian, actress, "The Richard Pryor Show" (1977), "D.C. Cab" (1983), "Night Court" (1986-92, Roz), "Empty Nest" (1993-95).

Born 1955: Penn Jillette of the Penn and Teller comic magic team.

1957: Phil Silvers' "Sergeant Bilko" sitcom spoofed Elvis Presley with the appearance of Elvin Pelvin.

1982: John Belushi, 33, found dead in Los Angeles from a drug overdose.
