Humor Gazette / This Day in Revisionist History

News Satire and Lies

From , former About.com Guide

A letter from John Breneman:
I've recently embarked on a one-year sabbatical from a two-decade journalism career as editor, reporter and columnist (in Cambridge, Mass., and Portsmouth, NH) to follow a dream of writing satire for a living.
Well, welcome to my nightmare, John. Please continue.
The Gazette takes the form of a Sunday newspaper with A1 links to section fronts and inside stories. At present, I post a new lead story 2-3 times a week and will be shooting for 5/week after a while. Political satire is a staple, but it touches on all aspects of life. I also have a daily feature called "This Day in Revisionist History" and other daily content in the works.
Thank you. I hopped on my mouse and took a scoot over to Humor Gazette. Hooray, it's a fine addition to general audience Internet amusements, filled with tongue-in-cheek news satire most often categorized as Sports, Terror, Health, Politics, Money, and Entertainment. Stories run the gamut from ''Mad Cows Seek Anger Management'' to ''President May Have Evaded Boy Scout Service'' to ''Global Warming Caused by Increased Activity in Hell.''

A major -- and appreciated -- comedy undertaking is ''This Day in Revisionist History,'' offering clever lies to rewrite the past. Did you know? On Feb. 14, 1859, ''Oregon became the nation's 33rd state, but was put on a six-month probation filled with merciless hazing from some of the older states'' and Feb. 8 is the birthday of Gary Coleman, ''actor, played young Malcolm X in the sitcom 'Militant Strokes.'''
