Ig® Nobel Prize : "Every Ig® Nobel Prize winner has done something that first makes people LAUGH, then makes them THINK," states the official site for the prestigious awards ceremony held each year at Harvard University. Read a complete list of winners and their accomplishments since the Ig® Nobel's inception in 1991, honoring science, technology, and humanity.
Several Honorees of the Ig® Nobel Prize:
  • 2002: "Eduardo Segura, of Lavakan de Aste, in Tarragona, Spain, for inventing a washing machine for cats and dogs."

  • 2000: "The British Royal Navy, for ordering its sailors to stop using live cannon shells, and to instead just shout 'Bang!'"

  • 1997: "Mark Hostetler of the University of Florida, for his scholarly book, 'That Gunk on Your Car'" which identifies the insect splats that appear on automobile windows."
  • 1995: "Shigeru Watanabe, Junko Sakamoto, and Masumi Wakita, of Keio University, for their success in training pigeons to discriminate between the paintings of Picasso and those of Monet."
