Batman Onomatopoeias - Visual Sound Effects

Friday April 28, 2006
The Funny Site of the Day -- Dictionary.com defines "onomatopoeia" as "the formation or use of words such as 'buzz' or 'murmur' that imitate the sounds associated with the objects or actions they refer to."

The Adam West Batman TV show of the 1960s defines "onomatopoeia" as "BIFF! BOFF! BONK! CLANK! CLUNK! POWIE! SOCK! WHAPP! ZLOPP!" and a little something we like to call "AIEEE!"

Batmania's Las Onomatopeyas page has collected more than 80 screenshots of the various pop art onomatopoeias blazing across the screen during Batman and Robin's fashionable, cartoonish fistfights. See the gallery or Z-Z-Z-ZWAP!
