BuzzFeed Vs. The Oatmeal, Round 1

By December 10, 2012

Follow me on:

There's a new internet feud on the scene, and it is juicy.

Internet feuds are a dime a dozen.  In spite of my generally peace-loving nature, I myself have been involved in a few online skirmishes over the course of my 17+ years online, and it's never fun when you're involved.  If fighting brings out the worst in people, online fighting amongst people who have never met brings out our hidden serial killers, only our weapon of choice is words, not knives or guns.  It's never pretty.

However... when you're not involved, what's better than watching a couple of internet heavyweights duke it out in the public forum?

I am a fan of both BuzzFeed and The Oatmeal, so today's news of BuzzFeed Vs. The Oatmeal immediately caught my attention.  There's name calling.  There are accusations, both false and true.  Dirt gets exposed.  There's also a villain and a hero, though I'll let you decide which is which.  In short, it's damn good (free) entertainment, and that's what the internet is all about.

Well, that and porn.  And maybe cats.

Anyway, what do you think?  Are you Team BuzzFeed or Team Oatmeal?

This is slanted, amateur journalism at its best. A poorly written piece by a guy who is still obviously peevish over getting fired because he made fun of a disabled Down’s child. Stay classy, Buzzfeed.

As usual, Bev, I’m on the same team as you.

I’d suggest that people use the link to the Oatmeal’s response, though, since it has the content of the Buzzfeed post, instead of giving the Buzzfeed post more traffic.

Good point, Frank! I was trying to be fair by including the BF side… though once I started writing, it became pretty clear which side of the fence I was on. ;) Thanks for commenting.

Because, the response Inman made explained a lot.

Okay, so now I wanna hang out with Matthew Inman. Funny, irreverent, and treats his family well.
